About Macleod Trail

Macleod Trail (Highway 2A) runs approximately 28 kilometres from downtown Calgary south to Stoney Trail, serving as one of the city’s longest and most commercially developed arterials. The heavily signalized route features Canada’s first diverging-diamond interchange at 162 Avenue and transitions from an urban boulevard to an expressway south of Anderson Road.

Major Projects

Macleod Trail SE Median Barriers Project

Installing median barriers from Shawnessy Boulevard to 99 Avenue, with curb replacement and resurfacing. Southern section completed October 2025; northern section with Bannister Road Bridge rehabilitation continuing through 2026.

Green Line LRT (adjacent corridor)

The Green Line southeast segment broke ground June 2025. While not directly on Macleod Trail, it runs parallel through parts of the corridor and will impact nearby traffic patterns.
